Your data
Where is my data stored?
In a local database on your phone — nowhere else. There is no account, no cloud and no server. That's the whole point of the app. You can verify it: the entire app works in airplane mode.
How do I move my journal to a new phone?
- On the old phone: Settings → Encrypted backup, choose a passphrase, and save the backup file somewhere you control (Files, Drive, AirDrop, email to yourself…).
- On the new phone: install Quiet MoodLog, then Settings → Restore from backup, pick the file, enter your passphrase.
Restoring is free for everyone — your data is never locked behind the paywall. Restoring merges with anything already on the phone, so doing it twice is harmless.
I forgot my backup passphrase. Can you recover it?
No — and that's by design. The backup is encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase; we never see the passphrase, the key or the file. Without the passphrase the backup cannot be opened by anyone, including us. Keep passphrases somewhere safe, like a password manager.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Delete all data erases every entry from your device permanently. Uninstalling the app does the same. Since we hold no copies, there's nothing to request deletion of on any server.
App lock
I forgot my app-lock PIN. How do I get back in?
There is no recovery path — no account means nobody can reset it remotely. You'll need to uninstall and reinstall the app, which erases its data, then restore from an encrypted backup if you have one. We recommend creating a backup right after enabling the lock.
Pro & purchases
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Settings → Upgrade to Pro → Restore purchase, while signed into the same App Store / Google Play account you bought it with. Pro is a one-time purchase: no subscription, no expiry.
Why does the free version show ads?
A small banner ad funds development of the free version. Your journal content is never part of ad requests. Pro removes ads completely — including all ad-related network traffic. See the privacy policy for exactly what ad serving involves.
Reminders
My daily reminder isn't arriving.
- Check the reminder is enabled: Settings → Daily reminder.
- Check system notification permission: your phone's Settings → Apps → Quiet MoodLog → Notifications.
- On Android, aggressive battery savers can delay notifications — exempt Quiet MoodLog from battery optimization if delivery matters to you (Settings → Apps → Quiet MoodLog → Battery).
